{Happy Holidays & Happy New Year 2010!}

First, I want to thank all of my wonderful clients old and new this year for a wonderful season in 2009! I look forward to next year as our product line includes even more beautiful offerings to compliment your portraits. I hope you have been enjoying this festive time of year as much as my family has. Here are a few pictures of my boys as they visited Santa Claus in his log cabin this December. May I just add that the second picture, of my older son just screams the song, "If you just believe" by Josh Grobin :)

{John meets country}

I love both my urban and country sessions for all they both offer as backdrops. I think John really liked this country setting. He was so playful and fun to shoot. Of course, I had to get in that soulful look as well because that is the *deep* look that I always find so intriguing in all of my subjects. Enjoy your sneak peek Mom & Dad! You both were so great.

{Sweet baby James}

I couldn't resist the title and just love that song by James Taylor. Isn't he just the cutest!? I got the opportunity to do a session for his older brother last summer and was lucky enough to now photograph his new baby brother today. Even with the rain this morning we were still able to capture baby James next to all of the splendid fall color from the comfort of their covered balcony.

{urban baby}

Happy 1st birthday Benjamin! This DC native hit the streets for his urban session. Welcome to toddlerhood. You may remember him 6 months ago when I was lucky enough to shoot him for his 6 month session as well. It was a treat to see how he has grown and there is no greater compliment than a repeat client, thanks guys. In fact, half of my clients this year were repeats from last year and for that I am truly grateful. Old and new, I get to meet such wonderful families. :)

{little miss jazzy Jasmine}

At least that is what I like to call her. She was in my son's class last year and I had the priviledge to shoot her as part of the school's class pictures. She was a bit more shy then and boy has she come out of her shell these days. I love meeting all of my young clients and all that they bring to the table! ;) A little side note about lighting... I am all about variety... that includes the vareity of lighting I captured here. Evening lighting is really magical (for lack of a less cheesy term) and this is some of what I like to achieve with it. I have to admit though that my favorite is that golden evening backlighting. Isn't it just yummy!

{Happy Birthday baby G!}

Garrett is already one year old and on his birthday weekend I got him out there for his own session. He loves the camera, especially when it is pointed at him! From day one he was a perfect poser for his newborn session curling up in all of those poses as if he just knew what to do. Well here he is a year later and I figured train tracks were perfect for the road he was about to take to toddlerhood.

Would you take a look at these cuties. This is a big share because I just couldn't narrow it down this time! They were the sweetest boys and oh so calm and well behaved. Ok maybe mom would disagree for whatever reason, but seriously, you'd agree if you met them too! ;) I loved the sassy look little Eli gave me in well, I am sure you know which picture!

{Updates}

It has been some time since I blogged last. This summer has been very busy both with GW Studios and my personal life. That's a good thing right! We recently added onto our home and moved back in which some of you may know, is a ton of work. And now that we have added onto our home we will also be adding onto our family! We are expecting baby #3 early next year. I will be taking maternity leave until April of 2010 which falls into place perfectly with the start of my busy season with outdoor sessions! As for the rest of this year 2009, GW Studios will be taking new sessions until November 15 and then closed for the remainder of the year as that is the time I am concentrating on putting together all of your holiday card orders. If you had a session this year and are interested in holiday cards, please drop me a line and I will be happy to discuss design options and share templates with you to choose from. {twins}

This pair sure were cute! Here is a rare moment when they were both asleep. It takes some time before reaching this state with multiples (as the parents sure know) but the outcome sure is worth it. Don't they look so sweet.

This one young lady was sure lucky to have both sets of grandparents there to celebrate. She had one full day with a birthday party to start off and a photo session to end it. I am sure she slept well that night!

{crackin' a smile}

I just want to say this little guy is gorgeous with or without a smile. It's those natural expressions we are after; that is what is real and in the moment. He did smile for me some and that was captured too but want to remind you that what is genuine is what is beautiful. I was lucky enough to capture this little guy as a nine month old last year and then again at 22 months. Thanks for the opportunity to see him grow. :)) You may recognize him as the baby cover child to my website.

{back to nature}

Wow how time flies when you have two. Here is my little newborn son. Oh wait, he is almost 9 months old! We are almost back into our newly renovated home *yipee* and had to capture Garrett in the wildly growing grass that is our current backyard. That is what happens when you move away for 5 months! I know, you though we were in a jungle somewhere! lol ;)

{Daddies and lullabies}

How cute are they!? Baby Benjamin is an adorable 6 month old who gets to hear live music sung by his daddy whenever he wants. He is one lucky little fellow I'd say ;)

I always enjoy going to the farm and I think the kiddos do too whether they are mine or someone else's as you can see here! :) We all had a grand time. Doesn't the photo of sweet Kiera want to make you start singing "Baa Baa Black Sheep"!?

{Full Of Spirit!}

This was one young lady FULL of personality. How cute is she!!! There was no saying cheese... promise! I shot her baby brother a few weeks ago indoors.... we were rained out for the outdoor portion of our session so this was a make-up. Her sassiness oozes through these photos doesn't it!? Here are a variety of styles and a few outfit changes....I like to shoot a variety of styles including a slight texture to the first one because.... well it just went well with the woodsy environment. Nice to meet you and hope that energy rubs off on me sometime soon! :)

{Adorable siblings: triplets and big sis}

Last Saturday was a gorgeous day and a natural light photographer's dream! I had a great time with these adorable triplets and their big sister. Happy birthday to you all! It has been great to see how you've bloomed from babyhood. You can see the post from last July from when they were 4 months old.

{Baby Will}

This was a fun session with a very happy Will. Okay, he is not smiling here but loved this particular shot with his very wide, curious eyes. Adorable! And take a look at those baby teeth and long eyelashes :0) Now can't wait to shoot his big sis!

{And the First Days of Life}

While I do really like the organic, airy feel that comes from processing my images with soft black and white tones as well as pastel tones in my newborn photography, I also like a punch of color. This hand knit cocoon wrap definitely calls for that! It knits up quickly and is the perfect prop for wrapping up a newborn. I think little Kaelyn looks quite comfy here don't you think?
